Worse battery life after upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.5 on Touch Pro2

I'm experiencing terrible battery life on my Verizon HTC Touch Pro2 after upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.5. I've performed a hard reset to make sure that it's not an app draining my battery. Anyone else having similar issues? I should have stayed with Windows Mobile 6.1 since there are few benefits to upgrading to 6.5 if you're already using HTC TouchFlo 3D (HTC Sense).

I'm not entirely sure what to make of this yet, but perhaps it's time to load a custom ROM on my Touch Pro2. When I was using the HTC Titan (Verizon XV6800, Sprint Mogul), I was mainly using custom ROMs built by DCD and others on the XDA-Developers and PPCGeeks forums.

  1. I am seeing no difference in battery life, but I have the no-push cab installed and don't run wifi and 3G at the same time as wifi is a real battery killer. There is always the over sized battery option that Verizon sells too.

  2. Ricky, thanks for your comment. The battery life was fine before I did the upgrade, so now I'm not sure why the battery is draining so quickly. Just did a hard factory reset and I'll continue to investigate.

  3. It appears to new bluetooth stack (at least in my case) that that is killing the battery. With bluetooth on(nothing paired)I lose at least 10% battery an hour. With bluetooth off, I lose about 1%. Have you tried testing with bluetooth on/off?

  4. I'll have to play around with the Bluetooth settings. I did a hard reset, minimal apps, and right now battery life seems OK.

I have a HTC Touch Diamond 2 and am encountering same problem...since the update phone draines in 1 day while before it could run for almost a week. Wifi is only turned on when I need it, because that is indeed an energy drainer. Blue tooth is turned on, but it wasn't a problem with 6.1
