Droid X review by PC Magazine

The Motorola Droid X has gotten the PC Magazine "Editors' Choice" award. The Droid X is a very large (but very slim) smartphone running Android. If you want a smartphone that has a large screen, then this is the one to get.  The Droid X does NOT have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard like the original Motorola Droid. As a result, the Droid X is very thin (except where the camera and flash protrude from the body).

I think I'd prefer the HTC Incredible just because I don't need a device that has a 4.3" screen. Then again, the large screen is nice if you're watching movies or playing games, but who has time for that?

If you're on the Verizon Wireless network, you probably won't go wrong if you choose the Motorola Droid X or the HTC Incredible.

  1. I thought it was kind of amazing that PCMag gave this phone the Editor's Choice:

    1. Review stated the phone had 'occasional freezes and slowdowns' which makes me wonder if it is more beta than ready for release.

    2. No front facing camera. Having tried VideoChat, I must say I'm more impressed than I originally thought (may have some real medical applications too.)

    3. 854 by 480 screen:Why yet another screen resolution for Android? More incompatibilities?

    4. "Droid X captures 720p video at 24 frames per second, which played smoothly on my Mac and PC, although I couldn't play it on the very phone I captured it with." - this has to be a joke...What would people say if Apple did this!

    5. "took me two hours to download "Shutter Island" over Wi-Fi." from Blockbuster. iTunes is sounding better and better.

    6. "HD out only works with the X's built-in photo and video gallery app—not with YouTube, nor V CAST, nor Blockbuster. And I couldn't get the phone to play any 720p videos, not even ones I recorded with the phone itself." Who needs HDMI if you can't use it?

    7. No simultaneous voice and data on Verizon with either the Droid X, Droid Incredible (and even the Sprint EVO 4G!)
