Skyscape’s CardioSource App Experiences Record Number of Downloads

In just over three months, CardioSource has been downloaded by more than 14,000 cardiologists and other HCPs

Marlborough, MA (July 12, 2011) – Skyscape, Inc., a subsidiary of Physicians Interactive Holdings and leading provider of mobile apps trusted by more than one million healthcare professionals, recently partnered with the American College of Cardiology (ACC) to develop the CardioSource Mobile App. Since its April 2 launch, CardioSource has been downloaded more than 14,000 times by healthcare professionals looking to make smarter decisions in real-time by accessing the most current content and studies in the field of cardiology.

“With CardioSource, I’m confident that the care I provide patients with is consistently in line with the latest guidelines and medical studies,” said Dr. Jordan Safirstein, FACC, FSCAI; Interventional Cardiologist. “Guidelines are invaluable if you're in the office, rounding on inpatients or teaching residents and fellows. To have evidence-based medicine available in a convenient and navigable format is a boon to doctors and patients alike. It fosters a higher quality of medical management consistent with ACC guidelines. In our field, it’s imperative to stay current. To have a resource like Journal Scan, right on your smartphone, provides busy cardiologists with the opportunity to read a journal article or two when we do have a free moment.”

The app streamlines the decision-making process and improves patient care through on-demand access to a fully indexed set of all ACC/American Heart Association guideline recommendations combined with the latest evidence-based medicine content from CardioSource.org.

Currently, there are fewer than 30,000 practicing U.S. cardiologists, and the ACC predicts an increasingly growing shortage of cardiologists in years to come. CardioSource is a powerful tool that can potentially help ease the burden of this shortage by providing evidence-based, mobile medical information at the point of care. Today, all healthcare professionals are being asked to do more with less while still being tasked with providing high quality care. Utilization of mobile apps like CardioSource is one way healthcare professionals are leveraging next-gen technology in an effort to maintain quality care despite workforce shortages and increasing job demands.

“The fact that CardioSource was downloaded by so many healthcare professionals specializing in cardiology is indicative of the need for intuitive mobile healthcare apps that cater to specific specialties,” said Sanjay Pingle, president of Physicians Interactive Holdings. “Our hope is that mobile apps like CardioSource will allow time-strapped healthcare professionals to maintain a level of personalized, reliable patient care.”
