Is Apple feeling threatened by Android?

Tuesday, December 01, 2009

According to this story on TechCrunch, Apple rejected the "iDroid" app for the iPhone. Now, it may seem like an obvious decision. However, I wonder if anyone at Apple is feeling threatened by Google's Android. This app wasn't an Android emulator, so it really lacked significant functionality. However, let's suppose for a moment that someone builds an Android emulator for the iPhone. Would Apple approve that app?

Android is currently on ever major U.S. mobile network (except AT&T). The engineers at HTC have designed some great phones. We've seen ads all over television, magazines, the web, etc. What will the smartphone landscape look like in 12 months? Android will definitely gobble up a large segment. Let's hope we see a wealth of medical apps for Android appearing in the early part of 2010.
