Thoughts from the morning: 2012 mHealth Summit Day 1 #mHS12

Today is day #1 of the 2012 mHealth Summit near Washington D.C. This is the first year where the meeting is being organized by HIMSS (since HIMSS acquired the mHealth Summit earlier this year).  Also, there is a stronger focus on Global Health this year along with a special Twitter hashtag #ghtrack just for the Global Health track. To follow all the tweets from the mHealth Summit, follow the Twitter hashtag #mHS12

Several exciting press releases have already been released today:
Notable tweets from the morning include:

Merrick Schaefer ‏@unimps
There is one doctor per 250,000 people in developing countries but 80% have access to mobiles. @PattyMechael #MHS12 #mHealth

epilkington ‏@epilkington
Today, there is greater access to mobile technology than there is clean water. Scary, but true. #MHS12 #mHealth

Alison M. Pilsner ‏@alisonpilsner
Mark Bertolini of @Aetna kicks off the @mhealthsummit & discusses the importance of being an informed #advocate & care giver. #MHS12

Benjamin Harris ‏@bharris_HITN
Mark Bertolini: 71% of people want to order prescriptions online. A lot of room for #mHealth to grow. #MHS12

You can view key videos from the conference here

I plan to publish a few posts each day on a variety of topics as I interact with attendees, presenters and exhibitors. You can find me on Twitter @DrJosephKim and I look forward to seeing you here at the #mHS12!
