Vocera Showcases Solutions in HIMSS Booth 2245 and HIMSS Interoperability Showcase

SAN JOSE, Calif. — February 15, 2012 — Vocera Communications, Inc., will introduce Vocera® Connect at HIMSS 2012, a new software solution that extends the Vocera Communication platform to a range of leading phones, including the Cisco® Unified Wireless IP Phone 7900 Series, iPhones®, Android-based phones and BlackBerry® devices. The new application delivers the instant, intelligent communications capabilities of the Vocera Communication System, resulting in streamlined staff communication as well as improved operational workflow and response times. These applications are supported by the new Vocera System Software v4.3. These solutions will be showcased in Booth 2245.

“Joint Commission data shows communication failures contribute to poor patient outcomes,” said Brent Lang, President and Chief Operations Officer, Vocera Communications. “By providing immediate, direct communication between care team members - regardless of their device or location - Vocera is helping hospitals improve workflow and enhance patient safety.”

Vocera Connect for Cisco brings the best of Vocera one-touch communication to users of Cisco wireless IP phones, keeping caregivers and support staff connected in order to improve patient satisfaction and reduce response times. Vocera Connect for Smartphones extends these capabilities to iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices so that care providers can use their existing smartphone device to leverage the benefits of the Vocera System for immediate communication.

For secure enterprise messaging and alerting, Vocera will demonstrate the Vocera Messaging solution which provides users robust, reliable, HIPAA-compliant delivery of critical pages, text, messages, alarms and alerts. Users can receive and send messages from smartphones, web-based consoles, or integrated third-party clinical systems. The Vocera Messaging solution can help eliminate unreliable pagers and replace unsecure SMS messaging.

With the threat of penalties from Medicare looming this year for avoidable readmissions for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia, Vocera will demonstrate Vocera Care Transition Patient Discharge solutions. Vocera Care Transition Patient Discharge blends healthcare best practices and face-to-face communication with a powerful software platform to reduce readmissions through improved patient comprehension of - and compliance with - discharge instructions.

Multiple use cases for integrated technology will be presented during the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase (Booth #11000) where Vocera will be engaged in three technology demonstrations for maternity and ED settings. Additionally, Steve Jackson, Vice-president of Vocera subsidiary ExperiaHealth, will present case studies demonstrating how hospitals are using Vocera and integrated applications to increase patient satisfaction and safety.
