Will Apple surprise us with a Tablet before the holidays?

Rumors of the Apple Tablet seem to come in waves. Before the launch of the latest iPod nano and iPod touch, we were (almost) certain that we'd also see an Apple tablet. Well, we were wrong. However, maybe Apple is being strategic with their marketing plan. Who knows, right?

At this point, I really don't know what to think. There are floating rumors about a smaller iPhone that will be arriving at Verizon Wireless next year. There are re-emerging rumors about the Apple Tablet. There are rumors that the Apple tablet may simply be a super-sized iPod touch. There are other rumors that the tablet will run Mac OS X.

In any case, the engineers and marketers at Apple are blessed with innovation, creativity, and a lot of talent. Let's hope they use their talent wisely as they prepare to launch this upcoming new device.

Palm OS no longer supported on Mac OS X

According to some circulating rumors, the next version of Mac's OS X (Snow Leopard) may be dropping Palm OS support. Not surprising since the original Palm OS is a dead operating system. Plus, I'm sure Apple would prefer that people switch to the iPhone.

Among medical professionals, the Palm OS was the dominant PDA operating system several years ago. Why? Because it was simple to use and there were so many medical applications built for the Palm OS. Now, Apple iPhone, RIM BlackBerry, and Microsoft Windows Mobile are the most popular operating systems found on smartphones used by medical professionals. However, Palm webOS and Google Android are starting to catch up quickly.

You can upgrade your Mac to Snow Leopard for $29. You're upgrading from OS X 10.5 to 10.6, so I don't think you're going to see significant changes (you're going from Leopard to Snow Leopard). However, I'm willing to pay $30 for a system upgrade.

NeoOffice Mobile for Apple iPhone

NeoOffice is a free Mac OS X suite of applications that you can use if you choose not to purchase the Microsoft Office suite. NeoOffice Mobile is currently being tested on mobile devices such as the Apple iPhone. NeoOffice Mobile is being designed with these 3 principles in mind:
  • Mobile phone support
  • Tight integration with NeoOffice
  • Security and high availability
Looks fairly promising right now. Let's see what other Office solutions start appearing in the near future for the Apple iPhone.
